Mika The Origin of Love

In the album «The Origin of Love», which is published today, the British Mika «celebrates» the love and freedom «without songs corny that sounds to the Celine Dion of the years 90 ‘, two months after declaring his homosexuality and thus exit reinforced the onslaught against one of the»monsters»of his life.

«I decided it would not longer the boy of sixteen years with fear.» I have twenty-nine, my own life and I’m happy. «I take my own decisions and am fortunate to be surrounded by tolerant people,» said today in Madrid, this musician, during an interview with Efe, which was calm, safe and talkative.

In addition, the author and composer denied that publicizing his homosexuality, made to the Instinct show, was a trick to promote this new album, the third of his career after the successful ‘ Life in Cartoon Motion «(2007) and»The Boy Who Knew Two Much»(2009), but rather a consequence of the same.

«If you check my career, you’ll find someone very discreet with their privacy, although ironically it is so clearly reflected in my albums that you could know when I was in each one,» explained.

«To the extent that my songs are written in the first person and that this album speaks of confidence and joy, and not have anything to hide, as a person, I had to go back (of the proposal)», he added, at the time that confessed that his statement felt nerves, but not fear, by making public.

The artist defined this album as «a celebration of love, an affirmation of freedom as an artist and as a person» and a hymn to tolerance.

«It is my sexuality important to understand my music?» I would say that no, because music is universal and goes beyond labels. It is important to understand me as a person with multiple facets and contradictions? Yes, he concluded, proud of a decision that he has done much good.

Also underlined that he conceived «The Origin of Love» as «a demystification of the monsters and shadows» of his life, something that is reflected in the same cover, with an image his «very classical Roman bust plan», but instead crowned with laurels, his head is tight by «a crazy drawing Golden drip edges» forming its name.

Mika The Origin of Love
