The fair welcomed 3000 people who enjoyed the folklore and the typical cuisine of Ecuador
Last Saturday evening held in Mazarrón the procession of the Virgin of the Swan, which brought together hundreds of faithful who gathered in the sanctuary of La Purísima to attend mass and subsequent procession with the image of the patron saint of Ecuador that animatedly toured the Centre of the town. Attendees included el Mayor de Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, Lieutenant Mayor of urbanism, Francisco Garcia, and Councillors Magdalena Mendez, Maria Martinez and Isidro Coy.
The mass was officiated by the priest of the parish of San Antonio de Padua and San Andres, Julio Romero, in the aforementioned Temple. This became too small to accommodate dozens of people, mostly of Ecuadorian nationality, who came from various parts of the geography of Totana and San Javier, Murcia as well as residents in the municipality. The procession with the image of «La Churonita», a name which is affectionately known to this Marian advocation, was this year especially attractive because it expanded its tour of the most central streets of Mazarrón.
Hundreds of Ecuador citizens participated in the procession. Which opened the parade wore, dancing to the beat of the music of «Nelson and his band», the popular brushwood that night were to be burned in honor to the Virgin of the Swan. They were dressed in the typical costume of the Andean country, as also wore this outfit many women parading with bouquets of flowers in her arms and with the Ecuador flag. Heat not amedrentó the minds of the faithful who, once finished the procession and made pictures with the image of his patron at the gates of the temple.
Already in the evening, the enclosure Ferial de Mazarrón hosted the opening ceremony of this year parties and various folk and musical performances that were enjoyed by some 3,000 people who gathered there. The opening speech was by the President of the brotherhood «Virgin of the Swan» of Mazarrón, Luis Macas, who thanked the City Council support to carry out these celebrations. The event was attended by the presence of the Councillor of festivities, Isidro Coy; the Council of management of urban public services, Juan Miguel Muñoz; and the consul of Ecuador in Murcia, Cecilia Erique.
Isidro Coy highlighted the great work done by the aforementioned Guild and Macas congratulated by «set this feast which seems like a few days but which, in fact, takes many hours of work behind». The mayor welcomed to observe «the large number of people we have appointment to venerate the Virgin and we enjoy this party with responsibility for that next year we can see us all here again». The celebrations were developed with absolute normality and in the middle of an inclusive environment.
The words of Cecilia Erique who informed their compatriots of the improvements achieved by their Government for Ecuadorians living in Spain were also especially interesting. The brotherhood «Virgin of the Swan» handed over to the consul a plate you appreciated their presence this holiday season. The festivities ended yesterday with the realization of various popular games and the sporting Championships during these festivals awards.
El recinto ferial acogió a 3000 personas que disfrutaron del folclore y la gastronomía típica de Ecuador
El pasado sábado por la tarde se celebró en Mazarrón la procesión de la Virgen del Cisne que congregó a centenares de fieles que se dieron cita en el Santuario de La Purísima para asistir a la misa y posterior procesión con la imagen de la patrona de Ecuador que recorrió animadamente el centro de la localidad. Entre los asistentes se contaban el Alcalde de Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, el Teniente alcalde de Urbanismo, Francisco García, y los concejales Magdalena Méndez, María Martínez e Isidro Coy.
La misa fue oficiada por el cura de la parroquia de San Antonio de Padua y San Andrés, Julio Romero, en el citado templo. Éste se quedó pequeño para acoger a decenas de personas, en su mayoría de nacionalidad ecuatoriana, que llegaron desde diversos puntos de la geografía murciana como Totana o San Javier, además de los residentes en el municipio. La procesión con la imagen de “La Churonita”, nombre con el que cariñosamente se conoce a esta advocación mariana, fue este año especialmente vistosa porque amplió su recorrido por las calles más céntricas de Mazarrón.
En el cortejo participaron centenares de ciudadanos de Ecuador. Los que abrían el desfile portaban, danzando al son de la música de “Nelson y su banda”, las populares chamizas que por la noche iban a ser quemadas en honor a la Virgen del Cisne. Éstos iban vestidos con el traje típico del país andino, al igual que también vestían este traje muchas mujeres que desfilaban con ramos de flores en sus brazos y con la bandera de Ecuador. El calor no amedrentó los ánimos de los fieles que, una vez acabada la procesión, se hicieron fotos con la imagen de su patrona a las puertas del templo.
Ya por la noche, el Recinto Ferial de Mazarrón acogió el pregón de las fiestas de este año y diversas actuaciones folclóricas y musicales que fueron disfrutadas por unas 3000 personas que allí se dieron cita. El pregón corrió a cargo del presidente de la cofradía “Virgen del Cisne” de Mazarrón, Luis Macas, quien agradeció al Ayuntamiento su apoyo para llevar a cabo estos festejos. El acto contó con la presencia del concejal de Festejos, Isidro Coy; el concejal de Gestión de Servicios Públicos Urbanos, Juan Miguel Muñoz; y la cónsul de Ecuador en Murcia, Cecilia Erique.
Isidro Coy destacó el gran trabajo realizado por la citada cofradía y felicitó a Macas por “programar esta fiesta que parece cosa de unos pocos días pero que, en realidad, lleva muchas horas de trabajo detrás”. El edil se congratuló de observar “la gran cantidad de personas que nos hemos dado cita para venerar a la Virgen y que debemos disfrutar de esta fiesta con responsabilidad para que el año que viene podamos vernos todos aquí de nuevo”. Los festejos se desarrollaron con absoluta normalidad y en mitad de un ambiente integrador.
También fueron especialmente interesantes las palabras de Cecilia Erique quien informó a sus compatriotas de las mejoras alcanzadas por su gobierno para los ecuatorianos residentes en España. La cofradía “Virgen del Cisne” entregó a la cónsul una placa en la que se agradecía su presencia en estas fiestas. Obsequio que también le fue entregado al Ayuntamiento de Mazarrón por su colaboración e implicación en los festejos y que recogió el concejal Isidro Coy. Las fiestas acabaron ayer con la realización de diversos juegos populares y la entrega de premios de los campeonatos deportivos realizados con motivo de estas fiestas.
