Thus the Councillor of culture, María Celeste Soria, stood out during the closure of this appointment among scholars, researchers, teachers and students and which was accompanied by the director of the Scientific Committee of the Congress and Professor of modern history, contemporary and America of the UMU, José Javier Ruiz. The Mayor also said that «I hope the sessions you have enriched and have fostered the exchange of ideas and also wish they have served so know a little better the archaeological, heritage and cultural richness of our municipality and that, as a Councillor for tourism, I hope you all had a good and pleasant stay that also serve so that soon you return to visit us».
As stated by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, «this Congress is fruit of the effort and the work of many people. That have had the opportunity to present their papers or communications, institutions that have participated in its organization and many workers who have made it possible that everything has developed with great success and perfect organization of virtually priceless way to our eyes here. What encourages us to repeat soon an initiative of this magnitude». For the first councilman «this Congress has represented an earlier and a later in the form of undertaking such acts in our municipality».
In addition, during the three days the Congress papers and contributions they cheered with discussions, sometimes lighted, in which participants closed many questions and hypotheses but, at the same time, opened up new ones that, surely, have helped the Congress attendees. La cita ha supuesto el broche de oro a la celebración del 440 Aniversario de la concesión del Privilegio de Villa
“Cuando el alcaide don Antonio González de Sepúlveda cargó contra varias decenas de corsarios que habían desembarcado en la costa de Almazarrón con apenas unos jinetes, no sabía que le esperaba”. Así comienza la recapitulación realizada sobre el Congreso Internacional sobre “Felipe II y Almazarrón. La construcción local de un imperio global” que ha supuesto un antes y un después en la forma de estudiar y entender la Historia de Mazarrón desde sus orígenes como villa.
Así lo destacó la concejala de Cultura, María Celeste Soria, durante la clausura de esta cita entre estudiosos, investigadores, profesores y alumnos y en la que estuvo acompañada por el director del comité científico del Congreso y catedrático de Historia Moderna, Contemporánea y de América de la UMU, José Javier Ruiz. La edil manifestó además que “espero que las sesiones os hayan enriquecido y hayan propiciado el intercambio de ideas y deseo también que haya servido para que conozcáis un poquito mejor la riqueza arqueológica, patrimonial y cultural de nuestro municipio ya que, como concejala de Turismo, espero que hayáis tenido una buena y agradable estancia que sirva además para que pronto volváis a visitarnos”.
Como ha manifestado el Alcalde de Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, “este congreso es fruto del esfuerzo y del trabajo de muchas personas. De los que han tenido la oportunidad de presentar aquí sus ponencias o comunicaciones, de las instituciones que han participado en su organización y de muchos trabajadores que de forma prácticamente inapreciable a nuestros ojos han hecho posible que todo se haya desarrollado con gran éxito y perfecta organización. Lo que nos anima a repetir pronto una iniciativa de esta envergadura”. Para el primer edil “este congreso ha representado un antes y un después en la forma de acometer este tipo de actos en nuestro municipio”.
Además, durante los tres días que duró el congreso las ponencias y comunicaciones se animaban con debates, en ocasiones encendidos, en los que los participantes cerraban muchas preguntas e hipótesis pero que, a la vez, abrían otras nuevas que, a buen seguro, han ayudado a los asistentes al congreso. Principalmente aquellos que están desarrollando sus tesis, tesinas o trabajos de fin de carrera, quienes continuarán sus investigaciones, a partir de ahora, desde nuevas perspectivas y con una riqueza mayor que antes de la celebración de la cita. Una cita en la que “hemos puesto un broche de oro a la conmemoración del 440 Aniversario de la concesión del Privilegio de Villa”, ha sentenciado el primer edil.
