The procession with the image of «La Churonita» extends this year halfway
This weekend Mazarrón, and especially its Ecuadorian community, celebrate the feast of the Virgin of the Swan. A commemoration that year after year, is growing in participation not only residents of Mazarron, but also of other municipalities in the Region where tens of people who want to pay tribute to the patron saint of Ecuador scroll. The celebrations are organized by the brotherhood Virgen del Cisne and therein collaborates City Hall through the Department of celebrations.
This year they have become to program two full days of feast whose main acts carried out in the fairground enclosure of Mazarrón. Even so, another of the places will become point nerve of the festivities will be el convent de Mazarrón square where, from 9 in the morning of Saturday 18 and until 10 p.m. on that day, the doors of the sanctuary of La Purísima will find open so that the faithful can contemplate the image of the Virgin of the Swan.
That Saturday, from 19: 15 be also held the procession with the image of «La Churonita», a name which is affectionately known to this Marian advocation, that will be the aforementioned sanctuary and this year has been expanded to give a greater prominence to the celebration. The courtship will tour the plaza del Convento, plaza de Callao, avenida Constitución, calle del Pino, calle Alfonso X «The wise», «Painter Agustín Navarro» Street and returning back to the temple.
By night, from 22: 30 hours, will take place the opening ceremony of this year parties and various actions of sets of Mazarrón and others arrived from various parts of the Region such as Dolores Pacheco, Totana and San Javier who played various traditional dances. Folklore is an essential part of this evening which also involve artists such as Jorge Salvatierra, «Los Wayces», Ana Andrea Paty «La Consentida de Ecuador» or «Chillagana C», «Los Dueño´s Band».
August 19 Sunday activities will continue with the finals of the quadrangular sport started in the previous day and will have popular games of the Earth as enchanted pots, bagged racing, dance of the Chair, dance of the tomato, egg to the air, greasy pole or binge eating meals. In addition, during the festivities, the fairground will have beach bars where you can taste typical Ecuadorian food with dishes as the stock of Creole chicken, tamales, sausages, ceviche, FRY and skewers, among others.

Este fin de semana Mazarrón, y en especial su comunidad ecuatoriana, celebran la festividad de la Virgen del Cisne. Una conmemoración que, año tras año, va creciendo en participación no sólo de los vecinos de Mazarrón, sino también de otros municipios de la Región desde donde se desplazan decenas de personas que quieren rendir homenaje a la patrona de Ecuador. Los festejos son organizados por la Cofradía Virgen del Cisne y en ellos colabora el Ayuntamiento a través de la concejalía de Festejos.
Este año se han vuelto a programar dos completos días de fiesta cuyos actos principales se llevarán a cabo en el Recinto Ferial de Mazarrón. Aun así, otro de los lugares que se convertirá en punto neurálgico de las fiestas será la plaza del Convento de Mazarrón donde, a partir de las 9 de la mañana del sábado 18 y hasta las 10 de la noche de ese día, las puertas del Santuario de La Purísima se encontrarán abiertas para que los fieles puedan contemplar la imagen de la Virgen del cisne.
Ese mismo sábado, a partir de las 19:15 horas, tendrá además lugar la procesión con la imagen de “La Churonita”, nombre con el que cariñosamente se conoce a esta advocación mariana, que saldrá del citado Santuario y que este año se visto ampliado para dar una mayor realce a la celebración. El cortejo recorrerá la plaza del Convento, plaza del Callao, avenida Constitución, calle del Pino, calle Alfonso X “El Sabio”, calle “Pintor Agustín Navarro” y regresando de nuevo al templo.
Ya por la noche, a partir de las 22:30 horas, tendrá lugar el pregón de las fiestas de este año y diversas actuaciones de conjuntos de Mazarrón y de otros llegados desde diversas partes de la Región como Dolores de Pacheco, Totana o San Javier que interpretaron varios bailes tradicionales. El folclore será parte esencial de esta noche en la que participarán también artistas como Jorge Salvatierra, “Los Wayces”, Ana Andrea “Chillagana C”, “Los Dueño´s Band” o Paty “La Consentida de Ecuador”.
El domingo 19 de agosto continuarán las actividades con las finales de los cuadrangulares deportivos iniciados en la jornada anterior y se celebrarán juegos populares de la tierra como ollas encantadas, carreras de ensacados, baile de la silla, baile del tomate, huevo al aire, palo encebado o comidas de atracones. Además, durante las fiestas, el recinto ferial contará con chiringuitos donde se podrá degustar comida típica ecuatoriana con platos como el caldo de gallina criolla, tamales, cecinas, ceviche, fritada y pinchos, entre otros.
